Yashraj finally signs Salman Khan

Yashraj Movies have finally succeeded in striking a deal with hunk Salman Khan after the latter last refused to do Chak De India for YRF.

A close friend of Sallu says, “Salman was the first actor to be approached for Chak De India! But while he loved the script he had suggested changes in the film’s climax. He wanted the final match of the hockey tournament be played between India and Pakistan.

He felt that then story would come full circle. But Adi didn’t budge and both parted ways amicably. Shah Rukh Khan was then signed on for the role. But Salman is now looking forward to the YRF project being written and directed by Victor (Acharya).”

Now Sallu miyan is part of YRF with the director of dud flick Tashan directing him.

A source says, “Vijay Krishna Acharya writer of the Dhoom series who made his debut last year with YRF’s Tashan is making his second film with YRF.

Salman Khan, R.Madhavan and Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishen are the male leads finalized for the same while the female leads are yet to be finalized. The film is supposedly a whacky action comedy that will go on floors in the second half of 2009.”

Well all wells that ends well for our Sallu Miyan.

Language no bar for Ash!

Aishwarya Bachchan has mastered the art of juggling Bollywood, Hollywood and films down south with great elan.

However, the actress admits that shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Ravana simultaneously in two languages proved to be quite a task even for her. “To first shoot in Hindi and then to give the exactly same shot in Tamil was very challenging. It’s a new language and learning the dialogues was not as easy as most would imagine.

But then language is no bar and you don’t mind all the hard work especially when you are working with one of the best directors in the industry,” said Aishwarya, who’s been shooting for the film in Kolkata.

But despite the gruelling shoot, the actress can’t wait for the film’s next schedule to begin. The reason being that hubby Abhishek will soon be joining them. May be the two can make practising their lines more fun then. After all, who’d be a better company to rehearse on sets than hubby dear, right Ms Bachchan?

Akshay Kumar is the best bet in Bollywood

Mumbai, March 5, 2009: Despite CC2C being a failure Akshay Kumar is still the best bet in the Bollywood. And to be true despite all critics and reviewers writing off Chandni Chowk to China, it may still throw a surprise by performing decently at the box office.

Akshay Kumar has given blockbuster after blockbuster. He says that out of his last 21 films 17 have been hits. Till late last year it was commonly agreed that Singh is Kinng is the biggest hit of the year.

But later Ghajini and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi happened. But despite being similar or bigger hits no film could claim to have undermined Singh is Kinng.

When asked as to what was the secret behind his consistency and what was his success formula, the actor says, “If you want, I can write down my secret formula so that people remember it all their lives. Okay, first you write Om. That’s what I always do. Then comes dedication, which is followed by talent. Subtract arrogance. Divide it by luck. That is equal to hit machine. But, tell you what, prayers work much better than this formula or maths”.

On the question as to why critics always try to take a dig at him, he says, “I don’t care what critics have to say about it. I really like my people and want my audience to be entertained. I want to make them laugh. They come and spend 150 rupees on a ticket. What do they want? Koi ro ke nahi jaana chahta yaar. (Nobody wants to leave the movie hall feeling sad.) Everybody wants to laugh”.

Is the success something to do with numerology? All his recent hits have been numerically corrected! Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa were amongst them. Welcome, by default added up well, did well too.

Ashutosh Gowarikar’s ‘Jodha Akbar’ and Actor Farhan Akhtar’s debut movie ‘Rock On’ bagged five awards each at the 54th Filmfare Awards tonight. ‘Jodha Akbar’ won five awards including the “Best Actor”, “Best Director” and “Best Film”.

Hrithik Roshan won the “Best Actor” award for ‘Jodha Akbar’, while Priyanka Chopra won the “Best Actress” award for ‘Fashion’. Ashutosh Gowarikar won the “Best Director” award for ‘Jodha Akbar’. The “Best Film” award too went to ‘Jodha Akbar.

The Oscar Hero AR Rahman won two Filmfare awards - “Best Background Score” for ‘Jodha Akbar’ and “Best Music Director” for ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’. Veteran Actor Om Puri and India’s first Oscar Award winner Bhanu Athaiya were conferred the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.
